When you think about consultants, what words spring to mind for you?

Bossy - Self Important - Arrogant - Condescending - Pompous - Expensive - Intolerent - Egotistic - Inflexible - Jargon?

We have personally met consultants who embody five or more of the negative criteria above. We want to break the tradition and do something different and that is why we hold these views as a negative yardstick - something to be avoided at all costs.

When you call in a consultant, do you want someone who will preach at you in a condescending manner? Do you want someone to tell you how stupid you've been all along and how wrong you are in the way that you are doing things? Do you need to be belittled and talked down to as if you know nothing? Do you need some upstart to upset all your staff, come in stir up a whirlwind with pie in the sky ideas and then leave you with nothing more than a huge bill?

If the answer is yes to any or all of the above, then read no further - that's not the way we do business here.

What we are:

At IQ, we do something that few others do - we listen. Once we understand what your problems are, we can work with you to find solutions that work and solutions that will last. We will work together as a team to improve your business so that you get more out, by putting less effort in.

We don't do "paradigm shifts", "asset leveraging", "blue sky thinking", "blamestorming", "smarter not harder", big words where small words will do, acronyms and other buzzwords.

Be honest - Have you ever sat in a meeting and heard jargon and buzzwords that you didn't understand, but then nodded your head when the speaker looked at you? Apparently this is called "bobbleheading" and it's reaching epidemic proportions. What is the point of having a meeting like that, if only to make someone feel important because they get the chance to break out the latest series of management buzzwords? The worse offenders are incompetent managers and consultants.

Again, breaking with tradition, we try to avoid cliche's, buzzwords and management speak, then take the time to explain ourselves, in plain English, so that everyone understands.

The point of a creative meeting is to have a free exchange or thoughts and ideas, not try and out-buzz your colleagues. That's why we keep it simple and down-to-earth.
